Being outside and moving in green space helps us be well. It improves our immune system, helps us to create endorphins and makes us more empathetic with ourselves and others.

So, we have supported the National Botanic Gardens of Wales, Carmarthenshire CC and Hywel Dda to use the green spaces in Glangwili General Hospital and Prince Phillip Hospital to help better wellness. This is through developing green areas within the sites and supporting staff to use these sites for themselves (and encourage others to use them as well). We hope that staff:

o Have a greater understanding of why nature and outdoor space is important for our own wellness, relationships and to support wellness and recovery with others (particularly patients).

o Know, understand and use in the the green space more as part of their work/wellness.

o Feel connected within others to promote being in and moving through nature.

We have been delighted to support you with short workshops during your time in work to help you pause, breathe and “put your own oxygen mask on. We know that this has helped you experience and practice some easy tips which could help you to be more well in your work and your wider life.

Staff have been helped to be in, understand and love your local workplace nature more. We have shown you how no-cost apps can be used to help you identify birds, plants and animals. We have also encouraged you to get into the habit of recording nature to help others. If you have a smart phone, you may find it useful to download/use these Nature Apps.
